Shaping Space w/ Flax Fiber

During this day long class learn how to create an organic sculptural form inspired by nature with flax (Linum usitatissimum) roving. This is an easy and fun technique with endless possibilities. The dried sculpture can be easily embellished with materials of your choice such as ink, paint or stitching.

Shaping Space with Flax Fiber

During this day long class you will learn how to use flax roving to shape a beautiful fiber bowl, box or collage. This is an easy and fun technique with endless possibilities. The finished dried sculpture can be embellished with materials of your choice such as ink, paint or stitching. (Sold out)

Spring Hand Papermaking

Saturday, March 23
Let your inner-child play with water in the desert. We'll spend the day making paper with Abaca (Musa textilis) and Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L). Plant fiber such as iris leaves and horsetail can be included for color and texture.

Book Art Papermaking: What's the Story?
Saturday, April 6
The art of the book is vast, curious and so engaging. Enjoy a day of hand papermaking with the intention to create a 'story book'. We'll make paper with abaca and plant fiber, flax roving, dye and ink. Stitching is not the focus, but can be incorporated into your design.

Paper & Sticks: Contemporary Basketry
Tues/Wed, April 16 & 17
Spring into the new year in Santa Fe just in time for Easter fun. During this 2-day workshop we'll use various basketry materials such as rattan, round reed and flax fiber paper along with springtime foraged materials such as willow and chamisa. Learn how to make paper with flax roving and apply your textured paper to the form creating a contemporary basket. 
Fee: $300.
Paper, Sticks, Form & Light

Friday - Monday, May 10-13

This is a 4-day workshop where students have the opportunity to experience papermaking and sculpture building capturing light and shadow. We will use natural materials to create an armature then apply your handmade paper to the form. Various medium are available for your use such as sumi ink, kakishibu and indigo dye.Fee: $600 ($250deposit to hold space)

Handmade Paper Lanterns

Bring in the light! During this day long class you will learn how to build a Japanese inspired lantern with a soft glow. We'll build a form with rattan, then apply handmade paper and light fixture wiring. Fee: $165
